We have policies and procedures put into place to identify, reduce and eliminate the spread of infection in Rossan College. We will make every effort to conform with the guidelines being issued by the HSE and the Department of Education and Skills.
This plan includes additional procedures staff will take in relation to their own as well as student wellness, personal hygiene and washing, proximity, classroom sanitisation, classroom materials sanitisation and immediate reporting of signs of illness. We will continue to implement a thorough and regular cleaning/disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces.
This is an unusual time for students and teachers as we work together to stay safe and well. We have all had to make significant behavioural changes to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
We will now need to follow these practices:
- social distancing, specifically staying 2 metres away from others
- frequently washing hands or use alcohol-based (at least 60% alcohol) hand sanitiser available at the entrance to each classroom
- wearing face coverings within the building
- avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth
- a no handshaking policy
- do not share objects that touch your mouth – for example, bottles, cups, pens.
(The kitchen/waiting area will be closed) - use your own pen for signing in
- make yourself aware of the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and monitor your own wellbeing. Common symptoms of coronavirus include:
- a fever – a high temperature of 38°C or above
- a cough – this can be any kind of cough, not just dry
- shortness of breath or breathing difficulties
- to ensure safe access we will have one point of entry and exit to the college during this time
