Course Aims

  • To train and certify participant’s skills and knowledge in all aspects of the course, in particular a high standard of basic life-saving skills and multiple casualty assessment will be expected.
  • Candidates’ certification will be to European First Aid Standards and HSA approved. Instructors are trained to paramedic standard, HSA approved, child protection and duty to care certified.

Course Outline

1. Assessment, accident scene management; safe lifting
2. Circulation wounds and bleeding.
3. Respiration, Asphyxia, adult CPR.
4. Heart disease, obstructed airways and paediatric CPR
5. Fractures.
6. Unconsciousness.
7. Burns and scalds, chemicals, poisons and electric shock.
8. Advanced safe lifting; child protection; revised CPR,
9. Multiple casualty stimulation.
10. Revision Examination

Course Work

Each participant will carry out basic life saving skills which will include:

  • Written paper (multiple choice or essay type questions or both).
  • Multiple casualty assessment (diagnosis and treatment).
  • Adult/child or infant CPR
  • Recovery position
  • 3-5 oral questions.

Duration/Start
21 January 2016, Thursday, 7pm – 10pm, 4 weeks.

Entry Requirements
Basic knowledge of English language as there is a written examination.
