Introduction to Mobile Application Development

Course Aim
This course provides students with an introduction to developing mobile device applications using the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework. In addition, students will learn about design considerations, such as form factor, memory, user input techniques and the type of connectivity used in a mobile devise application scenario.

Course Outline

  • Introduction to MS Silverlight to create rich media and business applications.
  • Overview of the Visual Studio for phone development.
  • Writing extensible application markup language (XAML), to create UI elements and develop event driven mobile apps.
  • Identify key differences between the .NET Compact Framework and the full .NET Framework.
  • Investigate some of the design principles for Touch UI.
  • Implement design considerations for Mobile Application Development.
  • Develop Visual Basic code to implement and deploy functional mobile applications.

Entry Requirements
Introduction to .NET Development course or previous experience in .NET development, particularly in the Visual Studio .NET environment.
