Course Aims

  • This course covers the main issues and compliance requirements contained in the Data Protection Acts which have a legislative impact on all organisations.
  • All organisations and employees who handle client or employee information will find the course beneficial  including:  customer support and call centre staff, HR departments, health sector administrators, financial services and accounts personnel, supervisors & managers, marketing & sales people, database administrators and information management staff.
  • Participants will become familiar with the fundamentals of Ireland’s Data Protection laws, understand the role and responsibilities of the Data Controller and apply Ireland’s Data Protection Acts in your own business environment.

Modules
On completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

  • Define data protection, understand the need for data protection legislation, key definitions and terminology related to data protection
  • Understand the fundamentals of Ireland’s data protection laws.
  • Understand the Data Controller’s obligations and the individual’s rights.
  • Understand how the legislation is regulated and enforced.
  • Interpret and apply Ireland’s Data Protection Acts within their own workplace
