Course Aim and Opportunities
- Students will gain an understanding of what is involved in running a professional front office operation.
- Students will develop basic skills to apply for jobs such as receptionist, front office administrator, general office support.
- Job opportunities exist in public sector departments, teleservices, professional practices and a wide range of private commercial businesses.
- Communication and interview skills will be a very strong focus to give our students every chance of success at interview.
- The qualifications will make an excellent addition to any CV.
Course Outline
- Skills and duties of a receptionist; front desk organisation, reception area maintenance, security and emergency procedures.
- Diary and booking maintenance.
- Communication Skills; assertiveness and confidence building; job interview techniques and CV preparation.
- Customer service skills; understanding excellence; dealing with complaints and awkward situations, etc.
- Telephone techniques, receive visitors; sales enquiries, etc.
- Consumer Legislation.
- Petty Cash; invoices and credit notes; receipts and payments.
- Incoming and outgoing mail; filing systems.
- Databases maintenance; word processing, business letters and documents.
Course Work and Certification
Assessment will comprise of assignments and skills demonstrations.
Successful candidates will be awarded FETAC/QQI Level 5 Component Certificate in Reception Skills.
Duration/Start
19 January, Tuesday, 7pm – 10pm, 10 weeks.
Entry Requirements
QQI Level 4; Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied
Mature students with relevant work or life experience. English Language proficiency.
